Unveiling of Townland Marker
We were lucky enough that on Sunday the 13th April 2025 we had a wonderful hour at the unveiling of the Ballymacrinan, Clooneylissane, Móinín townland plaque. We have been working hard over the last number of years to slowly introduce these townland markers around the parish. Due to Covid we didn’t get a chance to really celebrate these unveilings so we had great fun with this one and hopefully we will be able to do the same with others.
The rain held off just long enough to have our introduction by Tom Nugent, some beautiful music and singing by Killimer Choir, a short history lecture on the 3 townlands by Michael Gilligan, a poem on the Moyne Quay disaster by Darragh and Michaela Kelly and a quick cuppa tea!
We would like to thank everyone who came and joined us, with a special thanks to all those mentioned above as well as Mikey Kelly for erecting the plaque and letting us use his property to host the gathering, Senan Callaghan for traffic management, Shirley Gilligan for the flowers and McMahon Stone for the design and creation of the beautiful plaque.
We hope those who joined us enjoyed it as much as we did. We have put a little video together for those who missed it as well as some photos. We particularly enjoyed gathering those from the specific townlands together to get a team photo!
